Morocco Emerges as Top New Year’s Destination for Spanish Tourists

Morocco is one of the preferred destinations for Spaniards during this year-end holiday season. This is evidenced by its share in Spanish tourist bookings.
The Spanish have set their sights on Morocco. Morocco’s share in Spanish tourist bookings reached 3% in 2024, while it was almost non-existent in 2021, reports the magazine Travel and Tour World, specialized in global tourism trends. Many of these Spaniards prefer cities like Marrakech, Casablanca and Fez - which have become popular destinations - to celebrate the New Year. This attraction to these cities is explained by their unique atmospheres including traditional music, dance and festivities that distinguish them from European celebrations.
Moroccan tourism is booming. Arrivals have reached a record 16 million visitors in the kingdom from January to November, up 20% from the same period last year. This figure could continue to increase, as Moroccan authorities hope to reach a new record next year with 17.
