Morocco Emerges as Top Retirement Destination for Belgian Seniors Seeking Sun and Tax Benefits
Morocco is among the countries of choice for one in ten retirees who prefer to live their retirement abroad.
Many Belgians prefer to live their retirement abroad. Their motivations boil down to the search for a favorable climate or more interesting tax conditions.
Public sector pensioners are charged in Belgium, while those in the private sector benefit from a treatment that varies from country to country, according to Rtbf.info. Hence the strong tendency to live retirement abroad.
France (51,627) tops the list of favorite destinations for Belgian retirees, followed by Italy (32,884), Spain (23,517) and Turkey (7,221). Morocco (6,002) and Canada (4,601) close the podium.
According to the Pensions Office, this trend is relatively stable.
