Morocco Emerges as Top Budget-Friendly Winter Escape for 2026

Sun Travel has selected 12 destinations that will be the most popular around the world next year, from Asia to Iceland, including the United Kingdom. Morocco is one of them. "While the cost of living crisis continues to affect Britons booking their holidays, families want to find affordable destinations where their money can go further. And when it comes to enjoying the sun in winter at a lower cost, without a long flight, Morocco is one of the best destinations," says Kara Godfrey, deputy editor of the Travel section at Sun.

She does not hesitate to recommend the destination to British travelers. "I personally go to Morocco every winter to enjoy an inexpensive sunny stay. If you are looking for excitement and want to do your Christmas shopping in advance, I recommend Marrakech." A popular destination with several airlines. According to Godfrey, Ryanair, Jet2 and British Airways will be offering more flights to Morocco next year.

Albania is also among the 12 most popular destinations for 2026. "It may no longer be a secret, but Albania will emerge in 2026 as a must-visit holiday destination," says Lisa Minot, travel editor at The Sun. "France will almost certainly top the list of popular destinations for jetsetters next year," she estimates.
