Morocco Emerges as Top Arab Investor in Egypt, Central Bank Data Shows

Morocco is among the Arab countries that have invested the most in Egypt. This is indicated by data from the country’s central bank.
Arab countries are the main investors in Egypt, with net direct investments amounting to $6.35 billion during the period from July to March of the 2021/2022 fiscal year, compared to $2.327 billion during the same period of the previous year - a growth rate of 172.88%, according to the Central Bank of Egypt in its monthly statistical bulletin. Net foreign direct investments reached $3.51 billion in the third quarter, compared to $1.91 billion in the second quarter, a growth rate of 83.8%, the same source specifies.
With a net investment of $2.67 billion in the third quarter of fiscal year 2021/2022 compared to $1.47 billion in the second quarter (a growth rate of 81.63%), the United Arab Emirates is at the top of the countries that have invested the most in Egypt. They are followed by Kuwait ($168 million against $155 million, a growth rate of 8.39%), Qatar (about $140 million in net direct investments against $109 million, a growth rate of 28.44%) and Bahrain ($121 million against $55 billion, a growth rate of 120%).
Saudi Arabia ranks fifth with net direct investments amounting to $108 million in the third quarter, compared to $80 million in the second quarter, a growth rate of 35%. Jordan ($30 million against $7 million, growth rate of 328.57%), Morocco ($17 million against $14 million, a growth rate of 21.43%) and Lebanon ($4 million against $1 million, a growth rate of 300%) complete the top 8.
