Morocco Emerges as Potential Host for 2025 Africa Cup of Nations After Guinea Loses Bid

It’s official. Guinea will not host the 2025 CAN. CAF has decided to withdraw the organization of the competition from it, due to the delay in the construction of the dedicated infrastructures. A new allocation is announced, among the potential candidates: Morocco.
"For the 2025 CAN, the decision was made not to continue with Guinea because the infrastructure, despite the great effort made by the authorities, is not at the level for the competition to take place there. It was decided to reopen the call for applications for the 2025 CAN," said Patrice Motsepe, president of the African body, during a press conference, adding that it has been notified to the Guinean authorities, this September 30, 2022 in Conakry.
According to the official, the latest inspection visits carried out in the country were not conclusive. The infrastructure will apparently not be ready. Guinea had six stadiums to build in three years. Motsepe blew the final whistle.
Given this situation and the time limit, CAF could turn to Morocco, entrusting it with the organization of the 2025 edition. The kingdom is indeed positioning itself as the ideal candidate, having the stadiums and other infrastructures that meet international standards and requirements.
