Morocco Edges Zambia 2-1 in World Cup Qualifier, Attack Concerns Linger

The Moroccan team confirmed its dominance in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers by defeating Zambia (2-1) on Friday, June 7 at the Adrar Stadium in Agadir. However, there are still some concerns, particularly in attack.
From the first minutes, the Moroccans set the tone by scoring a penalty by Hakim Ziyech in the 5th minute. Trailing from the start, the Zambians tried to react but lacked sharpness in attack, running into a solid Moroccan defense and an imperial Yassine Bounou in goal.
The second half was of the same ilk, with the Moroccans controlling the game and scoring a second goal through Eliesse Ben Seghir in the 67th minute. The Zambians reduced the gap through Edward Chilufya in the 80th minute, but never really managed to seriously threaten the Atlas Lions.
Friday’s victory allows the Atlas Lions to consolidate their first place in Group E with six points.
With this victory, the Moroccan national team takes a big step towards qualification for the 2026 World Cup final phase. Next appointment for the men of Walid Regragui: Congo-Brazzaville, Tuesday, June 11 in Agadir.
