Morocco’s Economy Poised for 4.6% Growth in 2020, Forecasts Show

The growth rate forecast for Morocco in 2020 could well reach 4.6%, according to a press release from the Directorate General of the Moroccan Center for Economic Conjuncture (CMC).
The performance of the Moroccan economy, which is emerging in perspective for 2020, seems largely promising, in view of the results recorded during the current year, said Ahmed Laaboudi, Director General of the Moroccan Center for Economic Conjuncture (CMC).
He also indicated that with regard to the various configurations envisaged for this dynamic, they converge towards an increase in the growth rate to a level of 4.6% for the year 2020, despite the moderately good assumptions retained both for the international environment and for the main determinants of the national economy.
The 2020 growth, according to him, would essentially depend on the next agricultural season, the results of which would, in all probability, be much better than those of the season just ended.
Added to this are the efforts at the level of the other sectors, which should follow in the wake of agriculture in order to contribute, in a differentiated way, to the notable evolution of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), recalls DG Laaboudi.
He did not fail to point out the relative consolidation of the 3% growth of the international economy, on the external level, not to mention the significant recovery of world trade.
After a relatively dry year 2019 where the agricultural sector was affected through cereal cultivation, the national economy should, with all due caution, record a notable rebound, estimated, for his part, Mohamed Tahraoui, member of the Scientific Committee of the CMC.
