Morocco’s Economy Forecast to Grow 5.4% Despite Global Shocks

In 2023, the Moroccan economy would remain impacted by the effects of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine. The Moroccan Center for Economic Conjuncture (CMC) stated that the growth rate should be around 5.4%.
In a note on its latest monthly publication entitled "Economic Growth: Constraints and Resilience Capacities", the center indicated that, like the major world economies, Morocco has been hit by multiple shocks, causing devastating effects.
According to the forecasts, all the world’s economies would continue to suffer next year from the ravages of the effects of the pandemic and the harmful fallout of the war in Ukraine and its aftermath, the note states.
"The year 2023 would be a fundamentally unique exercise surrounded by strong areas of shadow and uncertainty to such an extent that a large number of difficulties have stood in the way of anticipating macroeconomic performance," the center warned.
To mitigate the effects of this situation on the population, the CMC recommends fighting inflation without penalizing the recovery and, on the other hand, helping vulnerable populations penalized by rising prices while rebuilding budgetary maneuvering room. It also recommends betting on the Blue Economy, which it considers to be a lever for economic development and the well-being of populations.
