Morocco Eases Travel Restrictions for Select Groups Amid Ongoing Border Closure

Morocco’s borders remain and remain closed. However, certain people are allowed to come to Morocco this summer. To date, the kingdom has banned flights with 54 countries including France, Spain and Algeria.
Morocco has eased the restrictions related to access to its territory. Certain people are thus authorized to join the kingdom by plane. Concerned by this easing of measures are all Moroccan citizens, foreign persons with the status of Moroccan resident, spouses and children of Moroccan or French citizens residing in Morocco, as well as foreign persons subject to an imperative professional reason. These people will have to present a negative PCR test of less than 72 hours, as well as proof attesting to one of the imperative reasons mentioned above.
The Moroccan government declared a state of health emergency on March 20, 2020 following the appearance of the coronavirus in the kingdom. Health restriction measures have been and continue to be put in place to curb the spread of Covid-19 and its variants. A curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. was imposed during the month of Ramadan. Restaurants, cafes and businesses are allowed to open but must close every day at 8 p.m.
Morocco has so far suspended air links with France and 53 other countries. Maritime links have also been suspended. Only repatriation flights are operated. Ferries are also used.
