Morocco Eases Security Measures as Gradual Reopening Begins

Morocco is beginning its gradual deconfinement starting this week. The services of the Royal Gendarmerie and the national security have begun to ease the restrictive measures put in place as part of the state of health emergency.
Several security checkpoints have disappeared from certain strategic locations in the cities, and foot or mobile security patrols have become rare since the beginning of this week, reports the daily Al Massae.
Outside the access points to the cities and villages of the kingdom, the security system put in place last March to enforce the health measures has been eased in preparation for the lifting of the lockdown scheduled for June 10. The large number of deployed police and gendarmes have retreated and traffic has resumed normally.
The lifting of restrictions on inter-city travel should be done gradually, the newspaper points out, taking into account the epidemiological situation in each region of the country.
