Morocco Earthquake: Tour Operators Offer Refunds, Flexibility for Travelers Through Sept. 18

Following the September 8 earthquake that shook Morocco, tour operators and airlines have taken a number of measures.
The day after the powerful earthquake that hit Morocco and caused hundreds of deaths and injuries, the French Tour Operators’ Union (Seto) called for "commercial flexibility" for clients who do not wish to travel to the kingdom until September 11. "If it is possible to offer postponements or credits, clients are entitled to refuse them" to request a refund, the Seto recalls in a press release. On Monday, it decided to extend this recommendation for an additional week, until September 18 inclusive.
Following this recommendation, Air France has implemented commercial measures, allowing clients with a booking for a trip to or from Morocco in the coming days to modify or postpone their trip free of charge. The national airline Royal Air Maroc is following suit by offering this possibility of modification or postponement of the flight until September 17 for a flight scheduled until September 23. As for Transavia France, the Air France low-cost subsidiary, it offers its clients the possibility to postpone a trip planned between September 09 and 16, 2023 to Morocco, until 03/30/2024, without modification fees, but with a fare difference (which can exceed 50 euros or even more per flight depending on the period!), reports Air Journal.
Morocco’s airport infrastructure was not affected by the September 8 earthquake. Based on this finding, the airlines have maintained all their flights to and from the kingdom’s airports.
