Morocco Earthquake Relief Fund Surpasses $530 Million as King Leads Donations

Since September 9, institutions, local authorities, national and international companies, personalities and associations have been mobilizing to help the victims of the deadly earthquake that hit Morocco.
Solidarity is underway. In total, 5 billion 374 million dirhams have been collected by Fund No. 126, created following royal instructions as part of the efforts deployed to combat the effects of the devastating earthquake that hit several regions of the kingdom and caused nearly 3,000 deaths and enormous damage. With 1 billion dirhams (Al Mada), King Mohammed VI tops the list of donors to the Fund. Bank Al Maghrib (BAM), the Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP) and the National Land Registry Agency have also made a donation of the same amount.
The donation from "Afriquia" and "Afriquia Gaz" companies, as well as the companies affiliated with the "Akwa Group" led by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, amounts to 600 million dirhams. With 850 million dirhams, the Grouping of Banking Professionals is at the top of the list of donor NGOs and institutions. At the level of local authorities, the Casablanca Regional Council has released a sum of 50 million dirhams.
