Morocco Drug Scandal: Law Enforcement Officers Accused of Aiding Traffickers in Northern Region

Many law enforcement officers are accused of complicity with drug traffickers in the northern region. This is revealed in a report from the authorities of Nador, sent to the central services of the Interior Department.
Law enforcement officers receive a share of the funds from drug trafficking operations, confides a source from Beni Ensar (a neighboring municipality of Melilla) to Assabah. These officers have received warnings and reprimands from their superiors.
They are accused of having usurped the identity of intermediaries sent by the security authorities or intelligence service agents, in order to facilitate drug trafficking or distribution operations in the various areas of the province.
On Thursday, March 5, the police authorities were informed of the assault on a Moqadem (local authority assistant) by drug traffickers. According to the facts, the law enforcement auxiliary usurped the title of officer of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), during the interception of the traffickers. The latter were heading to the Tcharrana beach where they were to sell their goods.
The fake officer demanded a large sum of money on behalf of his supposed superior as well as a quantity of drugs for personal consumption. This was too much to ask. The drug traffickers beat him up, broke the windows of his car and threatened him with death.
