Morocco to Double Amazigh Language Teachers to Meet Growing Demand

About half a million students take Amazigh language courses annually, according to the Minister of National Education, who stressed the need to double the number of teachers to properly address the teaching of this language.
For Saaïd Amzazi, 400 teachers per year are needed, instead of the current 200. This approach is part of the ongoing process for the officialization of Amazigh, as well as the modalities of its integration into education and priority areas of public life.
It is also an opportunity for the Ministry of Education to put into practice the recommendations of the meeting held on December 30 with the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture (IRCAM), dedicated to examining ways to increase the pace of generalization of this language in the three school cycles.
