Morocco Dominates Para-Athletics Grand Prix with 39 Medals, 4 World Records

The 7th edition of the international para-athletics meeting, the Grand Prix Moulay El Hassan, ended last Saturday after three days of intense competition at the Grand Stade de Marrakech. Morocco shone on its own ground by winning 39 medals (16 gold, 13 silver and 10 bronze), allowing it to maintain its position as leader in the overall ranking.
The podium is completed by Tunisia with 22 medals (9 gold, 9 silver and 4 bronze), closely followed by France with 20 medals (9 gold, 8 silver and 3 bronze). The event welcomed 450 athletes representing 44 countries.
This edition of the Grand Prix Moulay El Hassan was marked by exceptional performances, with several world records broken, including four by Moroccan para-athletes.
Mustafa Al-Fiqiwi, Secretary General of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Sports for Persons with Disabilities (FRMSPSH), said that "the 7th edition of the International Para-Athletics Meeting Grand Prix Moulay El Hassan, a qualifying competition for the 2023 World Championships and the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, was a great success".
Said Lamrini, the national technical director of the FRMSPSH, expressed his pride by stating that "the national para-athletes have managed to break into the world ranking, which allows them to obtain their qualification for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games". He also stressed that Morocco has all the capacities to host the World Para-Athletics Championships in 2025 or 2027.
