Morocco Dominates Arab Athletics Championship with 16 Medals, Including 6 Gold

With four new medals, Morocco emerged victorious again on Saturday at the end of the 3rd day of the 22nd Arab Championship which took place at the athletics stadium in Radès de Tunis. In total, 16 distinctions were won by the kingdom, including 6 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze.
On the third day, at the end of the 10,000m event, the Moroccan Fatima-Ezzahra Gardadi won the gold medal. For finishing second, Hanane Qalouj won the silver. The same goes for the triple jumper Mohamed Hamadi and the only bronze distinction of the day went to the Moroccan Soukaina Zarrouk, in the hammer throw. In addition, for this third day of competition, Mehdi Takardmioui and Chokri Machmour qualified for the 200m final, as did Essia Raziki in the 200m.
For the first two days of the competition, which took place on Wednesday and Thursday, the Moroccan selection won several medals. The gold medals went respectively to Rahma Tahiri in the 5000m, Mohamed Tindouft in the 3000m steeplechase, Ghizlane Siba in the high jump event, Assia Raziki in the 400m, and Soukaina Hajji in the 800m.
The silver medal was won by Yousra Lajdoud in the long jump and Abdellatif Sadiki in the 1500m, and the bronze by Mouhcin Outalha in the 10,000m, Anas Essayi in the 1500m, Salma Lahlali in the 400m, Mohamed Koussi in the 110m Hurdles and Noura Ennadi in the 100m Hurdles.
Out of more than 400 athletes from about twenty countries, Morocco is represented by twenty-four athletes for this 22nd Arab Athletics Championship. This 2021 edition is of paramount importance for the athletes, as their qualification for the next Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, scheduled for this summer, depends on it.
