Morocco does not want to let go of an Italian mobster

At 53 years old, Forniti is considered one of the most dangerous criminals in the Latina region. He is suspected of leading the clan that bears his name and being involved in a vast international drug trafficking network, using violence to establish his influence.

His arrest in Casablanca follows an international arrest warrant issued in July 2024. The operation was carried out thanks to close coordination between Moroccan and Italian security services, supported by an expert from the Italian embassy in Rabat.

However, extradition to Italy is facing legal obstacles. The couple is being prosecuted in Morocco for the use of forged documents and suspected corruption. These cases will have to be settled by the Casablanca courts before Rome’s request can be examined, thus prolonging their stay in Moroccan prisons.
