Morocco Dismantles 150 Human Smuggling Networks, Arrests 12,000 Migrants

This year, the Moroccan security services have succeeded in dismantling 150 very active smuggling networks in the organization of irregular migration and arrested 12,000 candidates for immigration.
This is the annual assessment detailed in a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), according to which attempts at illegal immigration have multiplied since the invasion of Ceuta and Melilla.
These interventions also made it possible to seize 742 forged travel documents, 67 inflatable boats and 47 engines, in addition to 65 vehicles suspected of being used for the purpose of illegally transporting people, the note said.
Regarding the fight against terrorism and transnational crime, the judicial police referred 38 people suspected of involvement in terrorism and violent extremism to the public prosecutor’s office in charge of terrorism cases.
