Morocco's Direct Aid Program Supports Over 100,000 Widows with $280 Million

In order to support widows through the direct aid program for widows, Morocco has granted nearly 111,000 people more than 2 billion dirhams.

The government official placed particular emphasis on the importance of this program which allows widows to help their schooled children and improve their situation. A total of 2.876 billion dirhams, this is the amount granted by the State until March 26, 2021, as part of the program launched in 2015.

Nearly 122,000 files have been received by the services of the Ministry of the Interior to benefit from this aid, while 120,000 files are received at the secretariat of the permanent central committee, said Jamila El-Moussali, Minister of Solidarity, Social Development, Equality and Family, in response to an oral question from the justice and development group on "the weakness of information on the direct aid program for widows", during a weekly session of oral questions in the House of Advisors.

Thanks to this program, 193,000 orphans without care and without income have received aid, the minister specified, stressing that 147,000 children have been enrolled in school and 12,300, with disabilities, have benefited from allowances without condition of schooling. In addition, the new targeting system will soon be launched, El-Moussali said, specifying that the system will take into account the direct aid program for widows through the single social register (RSU) in order to continue this program.
