Morocco’s Dakhla Atlantique Port to Boost Southern Economy with New Industrial Zones

The creation of economic activity zones at the new Dakhla Atlantique Port is a concern for the authorities. These zones will serve as a logistical and economic tool to facilitate the economic and social structuring of southern Morocco.
The creation of economic activity zones at the new Dakhla Atlantique Port was the focus of a recent meeting in Dakhla, reports Aujourd’hui Le Maroc, adding that "the main objective of this project is to enable the Dakhla region to strengthen its industrial potential, through the development of land supply, the provision of entrepreneurs with a complete quality service offer for the realization of their projects, and the optimal exploitation of the industrial opportunities that the said region ensures".
These economic activity zones will accompany the project of the new Dakhla Atlantique Port, which will be a deep-water port outside the bay, capable of meeting future traffic related to fishery products and the exploitation of small pelagics from stock C. It is on the Ntireft site that the structure will be erected, 40 km north of the city of Dakhla, in an area under the rural commune of El Argoub, details the same source, stressing that this port will have container ship services with "feederized" connections to the major ports in the region, namely: Casablanca, TangerMed and Las Palmas.
Depending on the natural resources that will be exploited in the region (maritime, mining, etc.), the port of Dakhla Atlantique may complement its offer with specialized terminals if necessary, recalls the media.
