US-Morocco Cultural Exchange: Plans for Moroccan Art Exhibition in America Underway

During a meeting in Rabat, David Fischer, the US ambassador to Morocco, and Mehdi Qotbi, president of the National Museums Foundation (FNM), discussed "a possible Moroccan exhibition" in the land of Uncle Sam.

Strengthening the friendship between the Moroccan and American peoples through "a better knowledge of our history and the living together that has always marked Moroccan society." This, according to Mr. Qotbi, is the objective of this possible Moroccan exhibition in the United States. "Culture is the best way to understand and know each other. [...] We are discussing so that Moroccans can also know more about the great American people," he added. "Moroccan culture is unique in the world. Finding ways to present it to Americans is a source of pride," said the wife of the US ambassador, Jennifer Fischer.

In a statement to MAP, the American diplomat affirmed that the recent decisions taken by the United States and Morocco "are the ideal means to move forward towards the consolidation of peace and prosperity in the region," thus alluding to the American recognition of the Moroccanness of the Sahara. "We have been clear about our conviction that this is the ideal way to move forward," said Mr. Fischer.

For his part, the president of the FNM announced the opening, in the next two months, of a music museum in Meknes and the Harris villa in Tangier. The FNM is also working on the establishment of museums in the southern provinces of Morocco, he said.
