Morocco’s Crocoparc Showcases World’s Largest Waterlily for Children’s Photo Sessions

At the 2019 edition of the Crocoparc in Agadir, the children who made the trip to the park benefited from a photo session on the imposing leaves of the largest waterlily in the world.
In addition to raising awareness among its visitors about biodiversity and the conservation of crocodiles and their environment, the Crocoparc in Agadir has recently strengthened its activities. It thus offers children the possibility of a photo session on the majestic 1.50 meter diameter leaves of the waterlily, the largest in the world.
The waterlily or "Victoria Cruzina" is a plant native to South America. Its flowering is very special. A large white flower opens with the onset of night and is pollinated by many insects. For its second and last night, the flower dresses in pink, before disappearing under the water.
The leaves of the waterlily can support the weight of a child between 10 and 15 kg. The complex structure of the leaf’s veins explains its ability to support weight, capable of inspiring several architects.
Located at the gates of Agadir, in the heart of the argan trees and at the foot of the Atlas, the Crocoparc is spread over 4 hectares. It has 300 Nile crocodiles (Crocodylus niloticus) that thrive and reproduce in the shade of many plant species that form more than 4 themed gardens.
