Morocco’s COVID-19 Surge Linked to Testing Delays and Communication Gaps

The process from testing to communicating results would be marred by malfunctions that increase the risks of virus spread and expand its perimeter.
Waiting up to twelve hours before getting the test results multiplies the risks of new infections via active cases. And the fact that people declared positive have to wait up to forty-eight hours to be recommended a health protocol remains just as dangerous.
Moreover, some people who test positive after tests carried out for travel or other reasons remain without care, and live their lives as if nothing had happened. According to Assabah, "people have infected, in their workplace, colleagues who have then transmitted the virus to their entourage". The speed of virus spread is fast and can go from the inadvertence of a positive case to the slowness in the care protocol.
The same source reports the case of a doctor’s relative who tested positive in the prefecture of the Hay-Mohammedi-Aïn Sebaâ districts. "He remained without care for a long time until the doctor directly contacted the regional health delegate in Casablanca, to find a solution and submit the patient to the health protocol".
So many malfunctions that mean that the number of infections continues to skyrocket, undoing the efforts made to curb the spread of Covid-19.
