Morocco’s Cooperation Slashes Irregular Migration to Spain by Over 50%

Spain can be proud of its efforts in the fight against illegal immigration. The flow of illegal migrants arriving on its coasts in 2019 is lower than in 2018, reports the Spanish newspaper El País.
This feat, achieved by Spain, was made possible thanks to Morocco which, according to the newspaper, played an important part. The newspaper El País, which emphasizes "that the Kingdom is a strategic partner for Spain and the European Union (EU) in terms of migration policy".
For the newspaper, which is based on data from the Spanish maritime rescue services, Morocco has taken charge of all the rescue operations of migrants carried out in its territorial waters in 2019. This promptness of the Kingdom to come to the aid of migrants has allowed Spain to act less outside its area of competence.
