Morocco’s Consumer Prices Rise 0.3% in October, Led by Food and Fuel Costs

The consumer price index rose by 0.3%. The announcement was made by the High Commission for Planning (HCP) in its information note for the month of October.
According to this note, it is due to the 0.4% increase in the food products index and the 0.3% increase in the non-food products index that the consumer price index reached this level.
The increase concerns products such as vegetables, milk, cheese, eggs, oils and fats. This is not the case for products such as fish and seafood, fruits, and meats, which have seen a decrease. As for non-food products, the increase mainly concerned fuel prices.
As for the cities that have experienced the largest increases in the CPI, there are Beni-Mellal with 1.3%, Marrakech and Meknes with 0.8%, Fez with 0.7%, Safi with 0.6%, Tetouan and Tangier with 0.4% and Oujda and Laayoune with 0.3%. On the other hand, decreases were recorded in Al-Hoceima with 0.2% and in Casablanca with 0.1%.
