Morocco’s Consumer Price Index Rises 0.2% in June, Food Prices Fluctuate

Compared to the previous month, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Morocco experienced a slight increase of 0.2% in June.
According to an information note from the High Commission for Planning (HCP), this variation is justified by the 0.3% increase in the index of food products and 0.1% in the index of non-food products, reports the Map.
The food products concerned by these increases recorded between May and June 2019 are mainly "vegetables", "fruits", "meats", "coffee, tea and cocoa", with respectively 2.4%, 1.0%, 0.5% and 0.1%.
Conversely, prices have decreased by 1.0% for "oils and fats", and by 0.9% for "milk, cheese and eggs", the HCP specifies. A 1.2% decrease was also recorded in non-food products, particularly in fuel prices.
The largest increases in the CPI were recorded in Al Hoceima, Béni Mellal, Marrakech, Rabat and Meknes, Settat and Fez with respectively 1.0%, 0.8%, 0.7%, 0.4%, 0.3% and 0.2%.
Conversely, decreases were recorded in Guelmim and Safi with 0.3%. In Kenitra, Oujda, Tetouan and Dakhla, the rate is 0.2%.
