Morocco Considers Third Covid-19 Vaccine Dose as Expert Urges Immunity Boost

The administration of a third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine would be the only solution to control the epidemiological situation in Morocco. Professor Azzedine Ibrahimi believes that the restrictive measures seem to have shown their limits.
A member of the vaccination committee and director of the biotechnology laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Rabat, Azzedine Ibrahimi has joined the debate on the need or not to administer a third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. According to him, Morocco should take this path, in order to "strengthen the immunity of the elderly and vulnerable, as other countries are doing".
He also criticizes the recent restrictive measures and raises several inconsistencies. "By taking strict measures [...] we have done what was necessary [...] after these measures may be sufficient or not". Given the "non-compliance" and the limits of these measures, the professor believes that herd immunity is the solution. We should reach it in mid-September with the complete vaccination of 50% of the population, he explains, stressing the need for Morocco to consider administering the third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
