Morocco Considers Easing COVID-19 Travel Restrictions for Tourism Revival

Tourism Minister Nadia Fettah Alaoui says that the projects to resume tourism in Morocco, including the abolition of the PCR test requirement, are under evaluation. This was during the videoconference organized by the CFCIM last Thursday.
This debate comes a few hours after the announcement of an easing of the conditions of access for tourists to Morocco, including the abolition of the serological test and the extension of the validity period of the PCR test. According to the Minister of Tourism, "people are afraid to get on the plane, but the fact that all passengers have taken the test is reassuring for travelers," adding that people have made a lot of sacrifices for 7 months and it is important to prove to them that the resumption of tourism is not a risk factor to ruin the efforts made so far. She does not rule out the abolition of the test requirement for tourists.
Regarding the resumption of flights, RAM and the ONMT have expressed their disagreement. As a result, there are serious concerns about the relaunch of tourism this winter. In this regard, the minister assured that the necessary steps will be taken to adapt the air supply to the potential demand under evaluation. The flight programs in place since early July have been adjusted with a view to repatriating Moroccans living abroad, students and others. In addition, other airlines are ready to mobilize 50% of their capacity as early as October-November.
It should be noted that this videoconference was organized on the initiative of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Morocco, under the theme "Perspectives and ambitions for the relaunch of tourism activity in Morocco".
