Morocco Considers Easing Covid Restrictions as Omicron Wave Subsides

Due to the significant improvement in the epidemiological situation and the end of the Omicron wave in Morocco, the authorities are considering a new easing of the preventive measures currently in force.
This option is necessary according to Dr. Afif Said, member of the Technical and Scientific Vaccination Committee, as it will allow Moroccans to catch their breath and regain hope after the crisis, he stressed in a statement to SRNT News.
"The end of the Omicron wave will allow us to catch our breath a little. The authorities have already authorized the return of the public to the stadiums, and have decided to ease the measures at the airports. This will allow the reception of fully vaccinated tourists as well as Moroccans residing abroad. By the month of Ramadan, citizens will also be able to perform their Tarawih prayers in the mosques," the doctor specified.
However, vigilance must be maintained, he recalled, indicating that this announcement should not slow down the vaccination campaign. "It’s the end of the Omicron wave, but it’s not the end of Covid-19. We can only say that it’s the end of Covid-19 if we don’t record any new variant or new infection," he said.
Consequently, "citizens are called upon to complete their vaccination schedule, especially for the elderly or those suffering from chronic diseases," he concluded.
