Morocco Coach Regragui Scouts Europe for New Talent Ahead of Major Tournaments

Walid Regragui is working hard to build a competitive team on the international stage. His goal: the next Africa Cup of Nations and the qualifications for the 2026 World Cup. To achieve this, the coach is criss-crossing Europe and the Arab world, meeting confirmed players and young talents.
Among the targeted players, Sofiane Diop, 23, is currently shining in Ligue 1 with OGC Nice. This dual national (Moroccan and Senegalese) has opted for the Atlas Lions, thus forsaking the French and Senegalese teams. Author of very good performances, notably in the last match against Strasbourg, he was selected in the Ligue 1 team of the week.
Another promising target for Regragui: Ayoub Bouaddi, a 17-year-old midfielder playing for LOSC. Despite his young age, Bouaddi is a priority objective for the Royal Moroccan Football Federation. Regragui hopes to convince him to join the national team, where he could form a formidable duo with star Sofyan Amrabat.
The coach is also interested in Ugo Lamare El Kadmiri, 17, nicknamed the "Moroccan Haaland". This young Olympique de Marseille striker is considered a great hope of football. Regragui wants to integrate him into the Atlas Lions project to energize their offensive line.
The case of Ghanem Saïss is more complex. This experienced defender, long the team’s captain, was sidelined from the selection due to injuries and lack of playing time. But he has regained his form in Qatar, with Al-Sadd. Regragui, who attended one of his matches, does not rule out recalling him to the national team.
While the coach favors the rejuvenation of the squad, he does not exclude calling on experienced players like Saïss and Jawad Yamiq, whose experience could be valuable in major competitions. Regragui is thus seeking the right balance between youth and experience.
This tour allows him not only to supervise players, but also to create a group dynamic and strengthen the team spirit. After the feat of the 2022 World Cup, Moroccan supporters have every right to hope for new high-level performances.
