Morocco Coach Reassures Boufal About National Team Future

The coach of the Moroccan national team, Walid Regragui, has sought to reassure Sofiane Boufal about his future with the Atlas Lions.
The striker of Union Saint-Gilloise, in the Belgian first division, was not called up for the last gatherings of the Atlas Lions, raising questions about his place in the team.
Regragui personally contacted Boufal to confirm that he was not excluded from his plans. The national coach justified the player’s absence by his uneven performances, while emphasizing that he was still closely monitoring his performances.
A return to the national team is therefore possible for Boufal. Regragui thus stated that if he maintains a certain consistency with his Belgian club until next March, he could be called up for the match against Niger counting towards the 2026 World Cup qualifications.
It should be recalled that Boufal had left the Qatari club Al Rayyan at the beginning of the season after an amicable agreement to join Union Saint-Gilloise.
