Morocco’s Coach Regragui Revamps Squad with Olympic Talent for World Cup Push

The national coach, Walid Regragui, intends to rely on the potential of the young generation to lead the Atlas Lions towards the 2026 World Cup. A large part of the bronze medalists from the recent Paris Olympics should be called up for the upcoming deadlines.
Ten players from the Olympic team, including the promising Oussama Targhalline, Zakaria El Wardi, Bilal El Khannous or Amir Richardson, should thus appear on the preliminary list.
The qualifications for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will also serve as a springboard for this new dynamic. Morocco will face Gabon and Lesotho in September, with the aim of taking the lead in the group from the first matches. It is a matter of Walid Regragui’s future.
To best prepare these matches, the Atlas Lions will hold a training camp at the Mohammed VI Complex in Salé before heading to Agadir, where the matches will take place.
