Morocco Coach Calls Up Chelsea’s 17-Year-Old Goalkeeper Tlemcani for World Cup Qualifiers

The coach of the Atlas Lions revealed on Thursday the list of players called up for the next three World Cup 2022 qualifying matches. There were absences, big returns but also new faces. This is the case of Sami Tlemcani, the young goalkeeper of Chelsea who opted for Morocco over Algeria.
During the press conference, Vahid Halilhodzic gave the reasons why he decided to call up new players for such important matches. "Sami Tlemcani’s talent has impressed me," the coach confided. He stressed that at 17 years old, the goalkeeper has everything it takes to have a great career with the Moroccan national football team.
The young prodigy who plays at Chelsea was born in France, to an Algerian father and a Moroccan mother. Courted by the Fennecs, Sami Tlemcani chose, last March, to represent the Atlas Lions. Even though his career has just taken off, Sami Tlemcani has already been called up to the French under-16 national team.
With Chelsea, he has already participated in U18 Premier League matches and has also played the FA Youth Cup. Being called up to participate in three matches as important as those of Morocco is proof that he is talented and needs opportunities to progress.
