Morocco Closes Weekly Markets to Curb Coronavirus Spread

Faced with the progression of the coronavirus pandemic, weekly souks and flea markets have been closed. This is the decision taken by the presidents of several municipalities in the province of Benslimane.
Bouznika is the municipality that kicked off this operation. This is following the publication by its president, Mohamed Krimen, of a decree closing the weekly souk (Khmiss Bouznika), considered one of the largest markets in the kingdom.
Other decisions regarding the closure of certain souks have also been made. These are the closure of the "Larbaa Benslimane" souks belonging to the Ziaïda commune, "Khmiss Sidi Bettache" of the Sidi Bettache commune, "Jemaâ Fdalate" (Fdalate), "Jemaâ Mellila" (Mlila), "Sebt Bir El Kalb" (Bir Ennasr), "Had Frid" (Aïn Tizgha), "Had Ouled Ziane" (Moualine El Oued), as well as the flea markets "Joutiya El Had" (Benslimane), "Tnine El Toualaa" (Ouled Ali Toualaa) and "Tlat Kedamra" (Ziaïda).
