Morocco: Civil Protection rescues two distressed Polish climbers
Civil Protection elements successfully rescued on Friday, January 16 in the afternoon, two Polish tourist climbers who were stranded on the heights of Oued Warga, in the commune of Tamanart. The two climbers, victims of physical exhaustion, were extracted safely from a particularly steep and rocky area.
The incident occurred while the two nationals were climbing on steep and sharp cliffs. Due to health complications and severe physical exhaustion, they found themselves unable to continue their ascent or descend on their own, which led them to call for rescue assistance.
As soon as their disappearance was reported, the local authorities and the Royal Gendarmerie launched a search operation in this mountainous area, known for its technical difficulty even for experienced athletes. Once their location was established, a specialized Civil Protection team was dispatched to join the two tourists.
The rescuers had to undertake a complex ascent to reach the victims, provide them with the necessary support, and secure their descent. This rapid intervention made it possible to bring the two nationals back to a safe area.
