Morocco’s 2M TV Channel Faces Financial Crisis Amid Management Woes

The 2nd national television channel has accumulated a financial deficit estimated at 750 million dirhams. Deprived of the right to broadcast on the Nilesat satellite, the channel is paying a heavy price for the sometimes haphazard management within the Ministry of Communication.
According to the Rue20 website, 2M Morocco has been the subject of a formal notice from the Egyptian satellite management, following the delay in payment of transmission royalties.
Internally, the financial crisis of the channel has had repercussions on the staff, and salaries and social security contributions have not been paid. In addition, some regional offices have simply been closed.
For a national channel of such notoriety, the intervention of the supervisory Ministry, of which Abyaba has just taken over the reins, is urgent, both in terms of the coffers and internal management.
