Morocco’s Chadi Riad Injured: Likely to Miss Key Africa Cup Qualifiers

The Moroccan defender of Crystal Palace, Chadi Riad, was injured during the match against Norwich City on Tuesday in the English League. His chances of being included in the list of players called up for the matches against Gabon and Lesotho in September are compromised.
Chadi Riad suffered an injury in the first minutes of the match, which forced him to leave the field after only ten minutes of play. An injury that upsets the plans of Walid Regragui who was counting on the young defender to make the difference during the matches against Gabon and Lesotho scheduled for September 6 and 10 as part of the qualifications for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) Morocco.
The Moroccan international is expected to miss these two matches, putting Regragui in a delicate situation. The Moroccan coach finds himself obliged to find a replacement for Chadi Riad, considered as one of the key pieces of the defense of the Atlas Lions. The Crystal Palace player had a good season with his former club, Real Betis, revealing the full extent of his talent and establishing himself as one of the promises of world football.
With this injury occurring a few days before the scheduled matches against Gabon and Lesotho, Chadi Riad’s call-up to the Moroccan national team is compromised. However, we will have to wait for the medical evaluation of the player’s injury to confirm his participation or not in Morocco’s upcoming matches. The answer will come later, when Walid Regragui announces the list of called-up players.
