Morocco’s Central Bank Prints Over 1 Billion Banknotes in 2018, Report Shows

In its annual report, for the past fiscal year, presented before King Mohammed VI on Monday, August 5, 2019, in Tetouan, it is indicated that Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM) printed over a billion banknotes for the year 2018.
In total, the report presented by the Governor of Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM), Abdellatif Jouahri, indicates that the central bank produced 516 million Moroccan banknotes and 525 million foreign banknotes in 2018.
As for the coins, it is 80.5 million units, while for the production of secure documents, the same source specifies that BAM produced 1.5 million passports and more than 11 million secure documents including stickers, stamps, cards and other types of secure documents.
Furthermore, the same report announces that, as of 2020, the production of the new generation of driver’s licenses and electronic vehicle registration cards will be ensured by BAM, which had already, in this context, in particular, signed a Partnership Agreement with the Ministry of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water on February 28, 2018.
