Morocco Car Rental Prices Surge Amid Vehicle Shortage for Summer Tourists

Weakened by the health crisis, car rental agencies have not renewed their fleets this year. As a result, a shortage of vehicles on the market leading to a sharp rise in prices.
Vacationers are fuming. They all had to break the bank to rent a vehicle during these holidays. According to Internet users, the price increase in rentals concerns all categories of cars, from small city cars to the most luxurious brands. A situation that does not help travelers, who are looking for the comfort and freedom provided by traveling by car, reports the MAP.
Speaking on the situation, Mounir Chami, a professional in the sector and president of the Moroccan Road Transport Organization, attributes this increase to the adverse effects of the pandemic, estimating that "there are no longer enough vehicles on the market to meet the demand, which is driving up prices and the waiting time for customers".
To revitalize the sector, Mr. Chami called for more assistance in favor of this activity, which is an integral part of the national tourism sector, which implies, he said, "their inclusion in the program contract for the revival of the tourism sector".
