Morocco Captain Benatia Addresses Fans After Shock AFCON Elimination

He had to react, following the elimination of the Atlas Lions from the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN). The captain of the Moroccan team, Medhi Benatia, who could not participate in this match due to an injury, understands the disappointment of Moroccans. We have copied here the complete message he posted on Facebook (with the mistakes that dot it!).
It is with great bitterness that this CAN ended.
I had decided not to express myself with the press in view of all the nonsense I had heard concerning the national team and myself.
Today I can understand the disappointment of the Moroccan people who had nurtured a lot of hope in us, and who has always been an indefinable support, but know that we are the first disappointed.
Living this elimination helplessly while being injured on the bench without being able to help my Lions has been the worst feeling of my career.
For several players of this generation, it was the last chance to win a trophy with Morocco, but Alhamdulillah!
For some, it will be another failure, but for others it will be a lesson that will, insh’Allah, serve future generations, because as they say:
"We never lose, either we win! Or we learn!"
Personally, in contact with this national team, for more than 11 years, I have learned a lot and I have always taken great pleasure in defending the colors of my country and I will always defend them.
In life or on the field, a Lion remains a Lion even when he is injured.
