Morocco Cancels World Shooting Championship Due to COVID-19 Concerns

It’s official. The world shooting championship, which was to be held in Rabat from February 7 to 18, has been canceled, due to the spread of Covid-19, particularly the Omicron variant.
According to a statement from the Royal Moroccan Shooting Sports Federation (FRMTS), this decision was also made "due to the impossibility of organizing this international event given the decision to suspend flights, which made the postponement of the World Cup obvious."
The FRMTS also indicated that this cancellation "was welcomed by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) given the need to take into account the developments in global health conditions imposed by the pandemic which are beyond the will of the Royal Moroccan Shooting Sports Federation," adding that another date, more favorable, will be chosen to organize this competition.
"The FRMTS is currently in consultation with the International Shooting Sport Federation to take into account the schedule of international competitions and the intense program of the months of February, March and April marked by the organization of several competitions in Egypt, Indonesia, Cyprus and Russia, which will take place within the previously specified deadlines," the same source said.
