Morocco Cancels Major Golf Tournaments Amid COVID-19 Surge

For the second consecutive year, the coronavirus has managed to cancel the Hassan II Trophy and the Lalla Meryem Cup. For a few weeks now, Morocco has been facing a sharp increase in Covid-19 cases, forcing the authorities to take new restrictive measures.
The two golf competitions were scheduled to take place from October 21 to 24 at the Royal Golf of Dar Essalam. But after consulting the organizing committee of the Hassan II Trophy Association, led by Prince Moulay Rachid, the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam and the Ladies European Tour have once again decided to cancel these two competitions.
According to Mustapha Zine, Delegate Vice-President of the Hassan II Golf Trophy Association (ATH), the cancellation of these two competitions is part of the fight against the spread of the coronavirus. When the epidemiological situation allows it, a replacement tournament will be scheduled by the European Tour.
