Morocco Cancels Embassy Reception in Tunisia Following President Essebsi’s Death

The reception scheduled for July 30, 2019 at the Moroccan Embassy in Tunisia, on the occasion of the Throne Feast, has been canceled. This decision came following the death of Tunisian President Béji Caïd Essebsi.
The reception planned in Tunisia as part of the Throne Feast will not take place due to the death of the President of Tunisia, Béji Caïd Essebsi.
On royal instructions, Morocco has sought to share its feelings of sadness and compassion with the sisterly Republic of Tunisia, in the name of the fraternal relations between the two countries.
Upon the announcement of the head of state’s death, King Mohammed VI had sent a message of condolences to the President of the Assembly of People’s Representatives, Mohamed Ennaceur, and through him to the Tunisian people.
The Moroccan Sovereign had expressed his "great emotion and deep affliction" and had conveyed his "sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy" following the passing of "one of the great men of Tunisia who had dedicated their lives to serving their country and contributed with selflessness and devotion to the building of its modern state".
Béji Caïd Essebsi died last Thursday at the military hospital in Tunis. He was 92 years old and had been hospitalized since Wednesday.
