Morocco’s Butane Gas Supply Secure: 40-Day Stock Maintained, Minister Reports

Morocco’s butane stock is sufficient to cover the national need, with an autonomy of 40 days.
According to the Minister of Energy, Mines and the Environment, Aziz Rabbah, this stock is reconstituted monthly by the reception of butane tankers through the various gas terminals, and mainly, the port of Mohammedia.
During a visit to the Moroccan Storage Company (SOMAS), the head of the department noted that the regular supply of the market, thanks to the new purchases confirmed by the operators, not only maintains the current stocks, but also improves the levels for the next three months.
This company, now a strategic player in the country’s butane gas supply logistics chain, has more than 72% of the national storage capacity. As for its reception, storage and delivery activities, they continue under normal conditions for the company, as well as for all gas operators.
In addition, all preventive hygiene, health and safety measures have been implemented in the sector, coupled with the timely triggering of the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) to ensure the supply of the national market, in line with the national strategy to fight the pandemic of the new coronavirus (Covid-19).
