Morocco Breaks Ground on $20 Million ’Souss Camp’ Tourist Complex in Agadir

Construction work on the largest tourist complex in Africa, "Souss camp", began on Saturday, July 27, 2019, in the presence of the Governor of the region, the President of the Regional Council and the President of the Municipal Council.
The project required an investment budget of 192 million dirhams and will provide 510 direct jobs, consisting mainly of a workforce of 1,000 indirect jobs.
Covering an area of 39 hectares, the Complex should accommodate two tourist projects of 18 and 21 hectares respectively. It will offer the general public a park, a dolphin area, a go-kart area, a ski area, other sports areas, a museum, a mini-zoo, an educational farm, an equestrian area, as well as a women’s area.
Its promoters had given up several times, following the unfavorable opinions of the investigation commissions of the Urban Agency of Agadir. According to them, "the location of the project is incompatible with the regulatory references, in particular the Master Plan for Urban Development".
