Morocco Boosts Winter Tourism with New Flight Agreements

For this winter season and particularly for the end-of-year holidays, the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) has concluded a flight agreement with Transavia and Air France. An opportunity to attract more tourists after the stoppage imposed by the Covid-19 crisis and to hope for a return to normal.

Taking advantage of the Covid-19 vaccination solution that gives hope, the ONMT has drawn up a roadmap to relaunch the sector and secure jobs and "the productive tool", indicates Maroc diplomatique, specifying that the first point concerns the conditions of accessibility that allow to engage the dynamics and initiate a gradual recovery. The second is based on air transport, which must be rebuilt and increase the number of seats in Morocco. Then come the commercial aspect and the partnership with tour operators, and finally, after the first three conditions have been met, the marketing work with the end customer.

Even if the state of health emergency has been extended until January 10, the ONMT is pulling out all the stops to welcome national and international tourists. It has just concluded an agreement with the airline EasyJet for the launch of a program of flights from France to Marrakech for the end-of-year holiday period, which started on December 19. Access to Moroccan territory is allowed to any traveler with a negative PCR test less than 72 hours old (except for children under 11) and a confirmed booking of a hotel and tourist establishment.

While several tourist establishments in Fez, including riads, are eagerly awaiting tourists, the cultural hostel in the medina "Médina Social Club" is already starting to receive tourists but "not with the same frequency as last year", notes the manager. Ifrane and Michlifen would also be a perfect destination for those who love skiing in the middle of the cedar forests.
