Morocco Boosts Naval Capabilities with Launch of Advanced Patrol Vessel

Navantia officially launched the Avante 1800 patrol vessel, ordered by the Royal Moroccan Navy, on Tuesday.
During this ceremony, Navantia’s Commercial Director for corvettes and maritime action vessels, Alberto Cervantes, highlighted the importance of successfully carrying out this project, which will be followed by others. The representative of the Royal Moroccan Navy, Captain Mohammed El Fadili, stated that this project is "an expression of the deep bonds of friendship and cooperation that unite the kingdoms of Morocco and Spain in general, and the Royal Navy and the Navantia shipyard in particular."
With its characteristics, the Avante 1800 "fully embodies the ambition of the Royal Navy to acquire an efficient, versatile, and sustainable fleet as part of the modernization of all the Royal Armed Forces decided by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in order to meet the constantly evolving challenges of maritime security," he added. The president of Navantia, Ricardo Domínguez, confirmed that the construction of the patrol vessel is "a testament to the shared commitment of Spain and Morocco to security and technological excellence."
The Avante 1800 is the first military ship that Spain has supplied to Morocco since 1982. With a length of 87 meters and a width of 13 meters, this ship will have a capacity to accommodate 60 people. "Its construction has represented for the San Fernando shipyard more than one million hours of work and about 1,100 direct, indirect, and induced jobs over three years," Navantia specifies.
