Morocco Boosts Air Rescue Capabilities: Royal Gendarmerie Adds Two Advanced H145 Helicopters

The Royal Gendarmerie has received two new H145 helicopters. Thus, the total number of aircraft of this type in the air group of the corps now increases from 11 to 13.

The two new H145 helicopters are registered CN-BYC and CN-BYD. Previously used by a Swiss air ambulance company, these aircraft have joined the Salé base after an air ferry journey across the Iberian Peninsula: from Almería to Rabat via Reus, Alicante, Málaga and Tétouan. During this transfer, the two helicopters made a technical stopover at Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández airport. These aircraft, already sporting their new red and white livery, were spotted by local observers.

The H145 is a 4-ton helicopter, an evolution of the EC145 with a 25% more powerful engine and the replacement of the twin-blade rear rotor by a fenestron. This versatile aircraft produced by Airbus Helicopters is intended for surveillance, medical evacuation and logistical support missions. Its cabin is built according to Rega’s guidelines. It offers great flexibility. It is predestined for special intensive care medical transports. "Its ability to operate in remote areas makes it a prime asset for the Moroccan air units".
