Morocco to Boost Infrastructure in Border Town Guerguerat with Water and Electricity Projects

Morocco has announced that the town of Guerguerat will soon be connected to water and electricity networks. Other infrastructure is planned to boost development in this rural locality.
Like other cities in the Sahara, the kingdom intends to multiply investments in Guerguerat, a border town with Mauritania. To this end, the authorities are multiplying actions to get the populations of the region out of isolation.
On the sidelines of the celebration of the 46th anniversary of the Green March, several announcements were made. These mainly concern the launch of projects to connect this border post to the Moroccan water and electricity distribution networks. Thus, Guerguerat will be supplied with electricity from the Bir Guendouz thermal power station, the last urban locality before this border post.
In addition to these vital facilities, the municipality will be equipped with a commercial and distribution area and a bank branch (Al-Barid Bank) to allow nationals and foreigners to carry out banking transactions in this remote corner of the desert.
