Morocco Bolsters Air Defense with French VL-MICA Missile System Acquisition

Morocco has announced the acquisition of the French VL-MICA missile system, in order to "protect vital and sensitive installations in particular against air and missile threats".
The Royal Armed Forces are preparing to receive the MICA (Interception, Combat and Self-Defense Missile) missile system, of French manufacture, announced the FAR-Maroc forum. It is a multi-purpose, short and medium-range missile, intended to be used by air, land and naval units, reports La Razon.
Developed by the MATRA company, this air defense system will be the second acquired by Morocco after the Chinese SKY DRAGON. The first tests were carried out from Rafale and Mirage 2000 aircraft, adds the same source.

For a few years now, Morocco has been strengthening its army with the support of its partners, the United States and Israel, in anticipation of possible attacks from Algeria, which broke off its relations with the kingdom in August and continues to support the Polisario Front against Morocco in the conflict in the Sahara. In this sense, Morocco has already acquired Turkish and Israeli drones and plans to set up a drone manufacturing plant on its soil, in partnership with Israel.
All these military acquisitions aim to strengthen the army to enable it to fully and effectively defend the territory. They do not fit into any attack strategy towards the countries of the region, we are assured.
